Financial Habits Quiz
Team of 4 (led by 2 active contributors) Ana Jesus / August 29, 2023
The Financial Habits Quiz was developed as part of the Code First Girls JavaScript Challenge, where we were asked to build an innovative digital tool to support individuals navigating the rising cost of living in the UK.
The Challenge
“With the UK experiencing the biggest price hike in fifty years, build a product, app, or website that empowers everyday citizens to manage their budgets.”
The challenge encouraged us to explore solutions focused on budgeting, awareness, education, or open banking tools—something new, practical, and user-centric.
Target Audience
Our project is aimed at young adults and individuals seeking to improve their financial well-being. Whether you're someone who tracks every penny or a more casual spender, the quiz helps users identify their financial habits and offers tailored advice and resources.
Features
- Interactive Quiz: Users answer a series of questions to assess their financial awareness and spending habits.
- Curated Resources: Links to platforms offering second-hand clothing, food-sharing programs, budgeting apps, and more.
- Accessible UI: Designed to be user-friendly and simple to navigate.
Development Journey
Initially, the project began with just web developers and no formal design system. Midway through, I did a design in Figma to improve usability and visual appeal. I personally designed the layout and UX flow, but due to team dynamics, some stylistic inconsistencies (like clashing colors) made it into the final version.
While we were a team of four, most of the active development was carried out by just two of us. Despite the challenges, we stayed focused on delivering something helpful and informative.
Technologies Used
- HTML5 & CSS3 – for structure and styling
- Vanilla JavaScript – for interactivity and quiz logic

This project was a great learning experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and user-centered design—proving that even with limitations, you can still create something valuable.
