Bus Parts E-Commerce Redesign
Ana / May 31, 2024
This was a client freelance project where I was hired to revamp an outdated website from 2013 for a company selling bus parts. The project included full rebranding, new assets, product photography, and the initial stages of development.
🛠️ Scope of Work
- 🔧 Redesigned logo and defined a new color palette & brand identity
- 📋 Rewrote and structured content: mission, values, copyright
- ✏️ Created design mockups for all website pages
- 📷 Visited the company to improve product photography
- 🧱 Developed static pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- 🔌 Connected pages and product data to Firebase backend
🔄 Workflow & Timeline
- November 2023: Client discussions, project scoping, initial asset review
- December 2023: Completed designs of most pages and submitted for approval
- January 2024: On-site visit to improve photo quality and collect content
- February–April 2024: Coded a few pages, set up Firebase, tested layout
- May 2024 onward: Project placed on hold by the client due to pending funding approval
💡 Challenges & Reflections
- The original website had no mobile responsiveness or visual hierarchy, so I had to rethink the structure from scratch.
- Working with a non-technical client meant extra time was needed for clear communication and content clarification.
- Despite the pause in development, this project gave me valuable experience managing a full-cycle client website revamp, from branding to frontend to backend setup.
🔮 What’s Next?
If resumed, I’d complete the full e-commerce functionality, including:
- Searchable product database
- Dynamic cart and checkout
- Admin panel for uploading new parts
- Firebase authentication for customers
This project sharpened my skills in design systems, client communication, and building structured websites for real-world business needs.
